History

Al Nakhil Co. is a Lebanese Tahina and Halawa manufacturing company that was founded in 1991 by two enthusiastic brothers, Selim and Fady Kanaan.

At first, the company started operating in a small facility located in Zouk, Lebanon in which the maximum daily production was 800Kg of Tahina and 200Kg of Halawa.

Since day one, Al Nakhil has chosen to focus on the export market due to the high demand of Mediterranean products worldwide, especially Tahina.

In 1993, we started working on a new project consisting of new offices and a new larger fully-equipped manufacturing facility. 3 years later, in the summer of 1996, we began the operations in our new factory in Mazraat Yachouh.

Due to the increase in the number of customers, production increased, and we were able to reach more countries and introduce our proudly-Lebanese products to the world. We also started selling our goods as private brands for customers who wanted their own packaging design.

For over 9 years, Al Nakhil was the main caterer of the Lebanese Army, providing them with a variety of food items including Tahina and Halawa, which were produced in-house, and jams and canned foods, which were supplied by various manufacturers.

In 2015, we moved to an even larger fully-automated facility in Deir Choumra. With the help of our Quality Control team that works countless hours to ensure the proper implementations of the manufacturing operations, we achieved the ISO 22000:2005 certification, which was then upgraded to ISO 22000:2018, reaching our current FSSC 22000 certificate.

Since then, we were able to reach over 25 countries worldwide including USA, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, UK, South Africa, and several Arab countries. With this increase in demand, we have attained a daily production of over 20 tons of Tahina and 2 tons of Halawa. During high season, we even operate our facility 24 hours per day to ensure timely delivery of orders.

In 2017, we installed a new independent line for the production of organic Tahina after being compliant with the EU regulations and the USDA-NOP (National Organic Program) with accordance to the COR (Canadian Organic Regime).
